Climbing 875 meters, down 770 meters
The first 15 kilometres were busy until we got away from the city and the traffic. The weather is so much warmer. I am riding without a coat, long bike pants and no hat. I will need to pack some warm weather clothes in my daily bag at the next rest day.
We are at about 1,200 meters in altitude. All the riders seem in much better spirits. A number of us had really bad coughs with the altitude but all are getting much better, small cuts on hands are healing quickly and my lips are free of chaffing.
I did however get sun burnt today – I have been carefully applying and reapplying what I thought was sun screen. It’s in a tube just like sunscreen and has the consistency of sunscreen but in fact it is bug cream. It wasn’t until I looked at it wearing glasses that I realised, as due to my eyesight if I’m not wearing glasses the writing is just a pattern.
The morning was riding long straights, with gradual up and down. In the afternoon the last 15 kilometres to camp was through a gorge.
We are bush camping but it is by a river and lots of trees and grass. Plus there is a small shop selling cold beer and food water.
Dinner was chicken, salad, and cheese pasta.
