Climbing 290 meters, down about the same
Thankfully I put the guide lines and stakes on the tent, as it poured down most of the night. I still need to tighten up the sides of the tent a bit more as some water did drip into the end of the tent, but no problems with the ceiling!
Most of the day we were riding past vineyards with easy riding, not much climbing. Nice and warm.
At the end of the day I was coming along the road and saw a steep hill and was overjoyed when we turned left just before it.
We are staying at a vineyard just out of Santa Cruz: Vine dos Rojas Tierra Vid. It has a good camping area and it was sunny so we were able to dry our tents.
There is a really nice toilet block, very clean, but the showers were cold. Unfortunately it looks like the vines have not been looked after and a number are dying, the remaining ones have not been pruned.
The restaurant is empty and the place is run down. There is no wine to buy as the caretakers tell us it is sold out. They went to town to purchase some for us, and the year was 2009. To be kind I will just say it was not excellent.
The new bag (Apidura) is working well, but I keep not recognizing my bike without the pannier rack and pannier.
